Movement for human rights is not anarchy: Rizvi

DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi termed the common people’s fight for ensuring human rights as movement, not anarchy.

He made the remark at a meeting in city’s Engineering Institute auditorium on Monday noon (March 6).

The meeting was jointly arranged by Bangladesh Student Forum and Northern Student Forum marking the 11th Detained Day anniversary of BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Rizvi said the movement in favor of justice and human rights for the common people is never a clutter. It is necessary to ensure rights through movement for democracy.

He further said if election cannot ensure human rights then it cannot be termed as election at all. 145 poll centers in Barisal were occupied by security forces on Monday. Similar scenario was seen in Comilla. We have to raise voice against this oppression and injustice together.

BNP leader Shauwkat Mahmood alleged that Tarique Rahman committed no crime, but was made a victim by the government. We have to remember that he is the future leader of our country and we won’t participate in any election without him.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Education secretary of the party's National Executive Committee Prof. Obaidul Islam among many others spoke at the meeting presided by Bangladesh Student Forum chief adviser Andaleeve Rahman Partho.
