“A vested quarter for establishing militancy” BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that a vested quarter is working to establish militancy and terrorism in Bangladesh.

He made the claim while talking to journalists after placing floral wreath to BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s tomb in city’s Sheer-e-Bangla Nagar on Thursday morning (March 16).

When asked about the raid at militant’s den in Chittagong’s Sitakunda, Fakhrul said, “We don’t think that proper investigation is being conducted on militancy. People, who were detained on allegation of militancy, are being killed without trial. So there are some secrecy and mystery here.”

“Earlier, we have called for national unity that is essential to root out militancy. But government did not respond to our call and is now trying to achieve a political objective using militancy issue.”

Fakhrul also said Awami League government is constantly distracting countrymen by hiding important issues with other minor issues since they acquire in power in 2008. It is their main tactic.

“The abusive power of the AL government was seen during 2014 election while BNP didn’t get a fair chance. But people are more concern now. It will not repeat in the upcoming general election in 2019.”
