DINAJPUR: Police on Saturday (April 01) arrested ameer of Dinajpur district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and another Jamaat leader from Haripur Bazar under Nawabganj upazila in the district.  

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Nawabganj police station Abdul Hakim said that they arrested district unit ameer Anwarul Islam, 55, and the party’s leader Raju Ahmed, 50, at about 4:00 pm.

Anwarul is son of late Kobat Mondol of Ghatpar area of Birampur upazila and Raju is son of Rafiqul Islam from Pandit Para in the same upazila.

The OC said that the Jamaat leaders gathered in the area for sabotage acts. On information, police conducted raid and arrested them.
