Two cases filed against 100 BCL men in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: Two cases have been filed against over 100 leaders and workers of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, over Saturday’s infighting.

Joydebpur police confirmed the matter to the Bangalnews on Sunday (April 02).

The cases were filed for blockading minister’s car and assaulting police during their duty at a function at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College in Gazipur.

Sub-inspector (SI) of Joydebpur police station Saidur Rahman Khan filed one of the cases on Saturday night (April 01), while another case was filed by the college unit general secretary of BCL Mosharraf Hossain Sourav.

The college unit president of BCL Sajib Hossain Sabuj, BCL central leader Onik and others were accused in the cases.

Earlier on April 01, an additional superintendent of police (ASP) and at least nine others were injured in the clash between two groups of the BCL at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College.

The clash took place after a function of liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque.
