DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that no other deal or agreement rather than deal on Teesta will be accepted to the people.
Fakhrul said these to reporters after paying homage to the memorial of BNP Founder Ziaur Rahman in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Friday (April 7) morning.
Fakhrul along BNP Joint Secretary Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, who was released recently from jail, went to Zia’s graveyard to place floral wreaths.
He further said, “We have expressed our view clearly on Prime Minister’s India tour. At this moment, our major problem is Teesta treaty. Apart from that, there are many problems between India-Bangladesh including border crisis, trade deficit and public health. The people of Bangladesh will not accept only the military agreement rather than solving those problems.”
BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Habibur Rahman Habib were among other leaders and activists present there.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Friday (April 7) in a four-day state visit. This is a widely anticipated state visit of Hasina after her last visit seven years ago.
