DHAKA: Some 156 Union Parishads (UPs) in the country will go to the polls on Sunday (April 16).

Voting to the UPs will begin at 8:00 am and it will continue until 4:00 pm without any break

The Election Commission (EC) has already sent all materials related to the elections to the polling stations in the respective areas.  

Deputy secretary of EC’s election management section Farhad Ahmed told Banglanews that the EC had announced schedule for polls in 174 UPs. But elections to some UPs will not take place on Sunday due to complexity.

Of the 156 UPs, regular elections will be held in 35 UPs, while by-polls in 89 UPs and re-elections will be held in 12 UPs.
