DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday (April 18) issued an arrest warrant against newly elected mayor of Comilla City Corporation (CCC) Monirul Haque Sakku in a graft case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Kamrul Hossain Molla made the order.

The court also directed to freeze all movable and immovable property of Sakku after taking the chargesheet against him into cognizance.

However, the court released Sakku’s wife Afroza Jasmin from the chargesheet.

The court further directed police to submit a report by May 9 on the orders of arrest and confiscation of property.

On January 7 in 2008, ACC filed the case against Sakku and his wife with Ramna police station for their alleged involvement in amassing illegal wealth of over Tk 4.57 crore and concealing wealth statement of over Tk 1.12 crore.
