BRAHMANBARIA: The officer-in-charge (OC) of Nabinagar police station in Brahmanbaria was injured in clashes between police members and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists following an imposition of section 144 in the area.
The incident took place near Chandua bus stand area in Bijaynagar upazila of the district on Sunday noon (April 23).
Earlier, district administration imposed section 144 in four upazilas of Brahmanbaria including Bijoynagar after BCL called strike ahead of the Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sayedul Haque’s visit there.
The clash broke out around noon while the minister’s motorcade was crossing the area. BCL activists threw bricks and stones leaving OC Imtiaz Ahmed with head injury.
Bijaynagar police station OC Mohammad Ali Arshad confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sayedul Haque went in the area to inaugurate Livestock Hospital in Champaknagar of Bijaynagar.
