GAIBANDHA: A Gaibandha court on Tuesday (April 25) sentenced 25 leaders and activists of BNP and its key ally -- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami -- to five years’ imprisonment in a sabotage case.
Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gaibandha Moynul Hasan Yusub pronounced the verdict.
The court also fined the convicts Tk. 1,000 each, in default, one month more imprisonment.
Public prosecutor (PP) of Gaibandha court Shafiqul Islam Shafique said that the BNP-Jamaat men were convicted in a sabotage case filed by police during the anti-government movement in 2013.
