CHITTAGONG: A pre-scheduled rally of the Chittagong south district unit of BNP was foiled because of infighting between two groups of the party on Wednesday (May 03), a day after such an incident in the north district unit.

The incident took place at about 4:00 pm at Patia upazila sadar in Chittagong. Some 20-30 people were injured in the incident.

BNP’s standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was scheduled to attend the rally as the chief guest.

Sources said that the followers of Chittagong south district unit BNP general secretary Shahjahan Juyel and BNP leader Enamul Haque Enam locked into clash prior to beginning of the rally.

The BNP men hurled chairs at each others during the infighting.
