DHAKA: A Dhaka court has sent BNP joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon to jail after he surrendered before the court.
The BNP leader surrendered before a lower court of Dhaka on Thursday (May 04) and prayed bail for some cases filed against him. The court rejected his bail plea and sent to the jail.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam protested and condemned the detention of Khairul Kabir Khokon.
In a statement, the BNP secretary general said that the incumbent government wants to cling to the power through arresting and harassing the leaders and workers of the opposition parties. As the part, Khairul Kabir Khokon was sent to the jail, he added.
He demanded immediate and unconditional release of the BNP leader.
