SYLHET: Police arrested Beanibazar upazila unit BNP’s general secretary Siddiq Ahmed and sent him to jail on Wednesday (May 10).

Beanibazar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Chandan Kumar Chakrabarty told Banglanews that Siddiq was arrested from before his home in Paton village of Mollapur union in the upazila, at the night.

He was absconding for long.

Following court directions, he was sent to jail in the noon. 

However, Siddiq was accused in cases filed in special power act, said the OC.
