DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said they support voting in EVM system in next polls.

Obaidul Quader said this at the council meeting of the fourth class government employees association at Mahanagar Natyamancha in the city on Saturday (May 13).

He said, “We think that the EVM system is a technology-based method. Voting will be perfect if the method is applied. We support the method. If the Election Commission seeks our opinion in this regard, we will support the EC’s thinking of EVM system.”

Obaidul Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, criticized the BNP for opposing the ‘good method’.

He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son and her Information and Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy wants the next Parliamentary elections to be held under the EVM system. ‘We support Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s opinion,” he said.

Criticizing the BNP about its demand of the election-time government, Obaidul Quader said that the next elections will be held as per the constitution.

Awami League Organizing Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, the party’s central leader Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Dhaka city south Awami League General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad also spoke the function, among others.
