DHAKA: The High Court has once again granted BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s plea for transferring the trial court, where her Zia Orphanage Trust graft case is on the trial proceedings, to another court.
The HC bench of Justice Md Shawkat Hossain and Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder passed the order on Sunday (May 14) after hearing the petition filed by the BNP chief.
Lawyer of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the matter to the Banglanews.
On April 13, Khaleda Zia submitted an application expressing no confidence in judge of the trial court Kamrul Hossain Mollah.
In the application, she requested the judge to send the case to the HC, as Kamrul Hossain Mollah was a director of the ACC between 2010 and 2015. The ACC is plaintiff of the case in that time. Khaleda Zia’s request was rejected.
Later on April 26, the BNP chief filed the petition with the HC.
On March 8, the HC transferred the case from the Special Judge Court-3 to the Senior Special Judge's Court, and asked to dispose of the case in 60 days.
On August 8 in 2011, the ACC filed the graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
