Khaleda now appeals for changing Charitable’s trial court

DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has pleaded in the High Court to change the trial court for the Zia Charitable Trust graft case, citing lack of confidence in the judge.

Her application was submitted to the High Court's concerned wing on Monday (April 15), a day after the HC granted Khaleda Zia’s plea for changing the trial court for the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Confirming the matter to the Banglanews, Barrister Jakir Hossain Bhuiyan said that the HC bench of Justice M. Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim may hear the plea of the BNP chief.

The trial proceedings in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case are now going on at the court of special judge Abu Ahmed Jomader. The makeshift court was set up at Bakshibazar in the city.

On April 13, the BNP chief submitted an application expressing no confidence in judge of the trial court. However, the judge rejected the plea.

The anti-corruption commission (ACC) filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case on July 3 in 2008 with Ramna police station accusing Khaleda, Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore.
