BNP demands probe into arson attack and murder in Rangamati

DHAKA: The BNP has demanded fair investigation into the incidents of the arson attack on houses of Chakma community at Longdu upazila in Rangamati and murder of the local Juba League leader.

The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the demand at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Saturday (June 03).

The press conference was organized to condemn the attack and vandalism on the house of BNP leader Amanullah Aman and an Iftar party arranged by the BNP leader.

Mirza Fakhrul claimed that the ruling party activists attacked the BNP leader’s house and the Iftar party in presence of Aman Ullah Aman. The attack proves that the leaders and workers of the opposition parties are not safe during the government.

The Iftar party of Aman Ullah Aman was arranged at Hazratpur at Keraniganj under Dhaka district on Friday (June 02). The function came under attack, while the miscreants also attacked residence of the BNP leader in the same area.

About the incidents of Rangamati, Mirza Fakhrul said that the houses of Chakma community were attacked and vandalized following the murder of a local Juba League leader. “So, we demand investigation into the two incidents and arrest of those were involved the incidents,” he said.
