COMILLA: Awami League General Secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP Chief Khaleda Zia’s comment on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Sweden visit during the time of landslides in hilly areas is absolutely obscene.
He made the assertion to reporters while inaugurating an online based toll system for Meghna-Gomti Bridge in Comilla’s Daudkandi on Friday morning (June 16).
Quader said Khaled’a remark on PM’s foreign tour is nothing but a vulgar expression of her blind rage.
“BNP leaders are lying and shedding crocodile tears while sitting in Dhaka holding press briefing. None of them went to inspect the tragic situation in person.”
Earlier on June 13, over 150 people have died in a series of landslides in the hill districts (mainly Rangamati, Chittagong, Bandarban) triggered by incessant rainstorms and flashfloods.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is on a three-day bilateral visit at the invitation of her Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven. She reached Sweden on June 14 and expected to return home on June 17.
