DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has expressed deep shock at the deaths of many people and fatalities in the truck accident at Pirganj upazila in Rangpur.

The BNP chief expressed her shock in a press statement issued on Sunday (June 25).

At least 17 people were killed as a truck overturned on Dhaka-Rangpur Highway at Pirganj upazila in Rangpur on Saturday morning (June 24).

Khaleda Zia prayed for salvation of the departed souls. She also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members of the victims.

She called upon the authorities concerned to provide necessary medical treatment to the people who received injuries in the accident.      

Khaleda Zia accused the government of negligence about management in roads and highways. She said that the Eid journey is costing many lives due to state condition of roads and highways.
