11 detained over AL infighting in Natore

NATORE: Three people were seriously injured and eleven others detained over a clash between two rival groups of Awami League in Naldanga upazila of Natore on Thursday night (June 29).
 
The clash broke out at around 8pm over previous enmity that provoked chasing, hurling brick-chunk and vandalising motorcycles at Ramshar Kazipur village of Naldanga upazila.
 
The injured were identified as Sahabuddin Shah, 55, general secretary of ward Awami League, son of late Jeher Ali, Dr Shahin Shah, 34, Jubo League general secretary of Jubo League unit and a brother of Sahabuddin, and Shajahan Ali Shah, 36, joint convener of Secchasebok League unit, son of late Abbas Ali Shah, all hailed from Ramshar Kazipur village.

The injured were admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital.
 
On information, police went to the spot to tame the situation.
 
Later, police detained ex vice chairman of Naldanga sadar upazila parishad and Awami League leader Asaduzzaman Asad, his brother Fotik Shah and eleven others on charge of involvement with the incident at around 12am Friday (June 30).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mustafa Kamal of Naldanga police station told Banglanews that no complaint was filed with the police station yet.

However, legal action will be taken if any formal complaint is received, the OC said.
