DHAKA: The High Court on Sunday (July 2) granted six months interim bail to BNP vice-chairman Barkatullah Bulu in seven sabotage cases.
An HC bench comprising Justices Mohammad Miftahuddin Chowdhury and ANM Basirullah granted the bail to him in seven cases filed with Paltan, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mohammadpur and Motijheel police stations in Dhaka.
Earlier, Bulu’s lawyers appealed for his bail in 19 cases. Barrister Ubuddin Khokan and Barrister Shakib Mahbub moved for Bulu in court.
A total of 54 cases were filed against Bulu with different police stations in Dhaka on charges of sabotage during the series of strikes and blockades in 2015.
Earlier on May 18, he filed for bail in 31 cases after surrendering to CMM court in Dhaka. However, the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Qazi Kamrul Islam sent him to jail denying bail.
