DHAKA: The ruling Awami League has called a meeting of the party’s executive committee and the advisory council on Saturday evening (October 14) to discuss the issue of Chief Justice SK Sinha.
The party’s general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader said this while talking to reporters after joining a function at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in the city at noon.
The AL spokesperson said that Law Minister Anisul Huq was called in the meeting in this regard.
The law minister has been saying since October 03 that the Chief Justice went on the leave for treatment as he had cancer.
However, Chief Justice SK Sinha before leaving the country for Australia on Friday night (October 13) said that he is not sick and will come back home after his leave. He also provided a written in this regard.
Obaidul Quader said, “He (SK Sinha) filed his written leave letter. On the other hand, his statement issued prior to leave the country was also written. The two matters will be discussed in our meeting to be held in the evening. We will provide our formal statement after the meeting.”
