DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said his party will suggest a specific 11-point proposal during dialogue with the Election Commission to be held on Wednesday (Oct 18).
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, told it to reporters at secretariat on Sunday (Oct 15).
He said BNP is a strong and tough opposition. So its participation in dialogue with EC is a positive approach for politics. Awami League intensely wants they BNP participate in polls. Their participation in dialogue suggests that they will do it.
Mentioning that Awami League doesn’t want to acquire power by defeating a weak opponent, Quader said, AL wanted BNP’s participation during the last general election on Jan 5 in 2014. But they did not and paid a lot for that decision.
In response to a query about Chief Justice SK Sinha’s sick leave and going abroad, he said the Supreme Court and Law Minister have already said everything in this matter. The government has nothing else to say.
In a query about a separate matter on Sitting Service in Dhaka, Quader said, “Sitting Service can not be brought to the line even after trying. Bus owners have created anarchy in public transport and the government is thinking seriously about this issue.”
