SYLHET: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said only persons who are eligible to folks of Sylhet Metropolitan will be candidates for City Mayor election.

Quader, also, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges added that in a similar fashion, eligible in the eyes of public will be nominated for boat, the party emblem.
 
The Minister made this remark on Saturday (October 21) while speaking as a chief guest in a worker meeting on renewal of members organized by metropolitan Awami League in historical Registrar Field of Sylhet.  

He said, “We care about every area. There is no necessary to quarrel about nomination. Now there is only one candidate, which is boat, Sheikh Hasina’s boat.”    

Furthermore, after inaugurating the program, the AL leader said, “Identified extortionist, terrorist, person with anti-liberation attitude cannot be members of Awami League.”

Qader advised AL leaders not to procure members sitting from party offices. Rather, they could go to houses to do this job.
 
The Minister referred to two bloody incidents which took place in just a week in Sylhet. He demanded their exemplary punishment. Party’s reputation cannot be tarnished for a couple of terrorists.    
 
Awami League central member and president of Sylhet metropolitan Awami League Badr Uddin Ahmed Kamran presided over the meeting while general secretary of the district Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury led the program and Awami League organizing Secretary Ahmad Hossain and central member Professor Rafiqur Rahman spoke as special guests in the program.
