Rawshan seeks India’s cooperation for Rohingya repatriation

DHAKA: Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament Rawshon Ershad at a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj sought cooperation of her country over peaceful repatriation of Rohingya refugees.  

The meeting was held at Hotel Sonargoan in the capital city on Sunday night (October 22).

Information and public relations officer of Leader of the Opposition Md Mamun Hasan told Banglanews Sushma Swaraj assured Rawshon Ershad that India will stand beside Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue.

Rawshon Ershad at the meeting also sought Indian minister’s cooperation in removing barriers to signing the much-awaited Teesta water-sharing deal.  

The Jatiya Party leader also raised the border killing issue and urged Sushma Swaraj to take step in this regard. The Indian minister said that her government will take effective measures to stop the border killing.

Opposition chief whip Tajul Islam Chowdhury MP, Fakrul Islam MP, Jatiya Party whip Selim Uddin MP, Nur-e-Hasna Lily MP, Jatiya Party presidium member SM Faysal Chisti and Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla were also present at the meeting.
