DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the initiative in resolving Rohingya crisis is heading towards progress.
He said this while talking to journalists after Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla met him at the Bridge Building in the city on Wednesday (October 25).
Obaidul Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said that Myanmar primarily has agreed to take back its citizens. The international communities are also more emphatic in Rohingya repatriation.
India is more concerned about the Rohingya Issue, he said.
The minister also said that he thinks India is pressurizing Myanmar to take Rohingyas back to their homeland. “We hope that our friends, China and Russia, will also come forward to help on the Rohingya issue like European Union (EU) who is now playing vital role on the issue,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Indian High Commissioner said, “We will make efforts, relief that is India giving to Rohingyas, to maximize the amount.”
