DHAKA: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi claimed the ruling Awami League cannot tolerate the popularity of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The BNP leader made the remark at a human chain rally protesting the attack on Khaleda Zia’s caravan on the way to Cox’s Bazaar to distribute relief among Rohingyas.
The program was organized by Bangladesh Nationalist Freedom Fighters Party-a partner of the BNP-led 20-party alliance in front of the National Press Club on Monday (October 30).
Rizvi stated that, “If the BNP leaders say that AL, even the family of the PM Hasina, has no contribution to the war of liberation in 1971, then police will arrest them. That is not how democracy works. AL thinks Bangladesh is their ancestral property. The nation knows who has contribution in the war of freedom.”
“AL has shown sings of frenzy and hostility seeing the popularity of BNP chief Khaleda Zia. Otherwise, why would they carry out attacks on Khaleda’s motorcade,” Rizvi added.
Organizing Committee President Abu Hashim, General Secretary Joynal Abedin spoke in the program among others.
