DHAKA: A sedition plea has been filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A pro-Awami League lawyer filed the plea with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka on Wednesday (November 01), claiming that Khaleda Zia ‘secretly held meeting with Pakistan’s intelligence agency’ during her stay in London.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud kept the complaint on waiting for passing order.
Founding chairman of Bangabandhu Foundation Abdul Malek alias Mashiur Rahman filed the plea with the court, urging a sedition suit against Khaleda Zia and issuance of arrest warrant against her.
Abdul Malek accused the BNP chief of holding a ‘the secret meeting’ with Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on July 18 and 19 during her three-month stay in the UK.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia flew to London on July 15. She returned home on October 18 after medical treatment and spending time with her family.
In July, some online news portals, including pubopaschimbd, reported that Khaleda Zia had met with ISI at a hotel in London.
Abdul Malek in his plea said that Khaleda Zia’s meeting was meant to create ‘instability in Bangladesh and instigate a state of war between Bangladesh and India’.
