DHAKA: BNP has sent a letter to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) seeking permission to hold a rally at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on the occasion of ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ that falls on Nov 8.
BNP joint senior secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the disclosure to reporters at party’s Naya Paltan office on Friday (Nov 3).
He said, “We have sent a letter to the administration asking for permission to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan to mark the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’. Hopefully we will get the permission. In fact, party men were already asked to take preparations for the rally.”
On the other hand, earlier on Thursday noon (Nov 2), BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul held a joint meeting with party and other associate organization leaders. After the meeting, a 10-day program from Nov 5 to Nov 14 was announced.
However, BNP did not get a permission to hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of party office on the same day last year.
