DHAKA: Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said his party condemns those who do extortion in name of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remark while addressing a seminar in Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) auditorium on Saturday morning (Nov 25).
Awami League Information and Research Sub-Committee arranged the seminar to celebrate the UNESCO recognition of Bangabandhu’s historic March 7th speech.
While addressing the seminar, Quader said we don’t need people who do extortion and exploitation works in the name of Bangabandhu. They are nothing but disgust to the party. We all have to learn lessons from the honesty and courage of Bangabandhu.
Referring to the corrupt politicians, Quader said, “How many of us can boldly say that we are honest. If politicians can stay out of corruption then automatically it will be reduced in half.”
“There is no greater achievement for a politician other than the love of the countrymen. One must go close to the people to win that love.”
Quader also highlighted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a role model of honest politician. Mentioning her as one of world’s best leader he said, “Bangabandhu’s daughter and also the PM excels everyone in honesty and hard work. Unlike many other politicians, she is free of any corruption allegations.”
