DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Four leaders and activists of Dhaka University (DU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League were sent to Shahbagh Police Station, on accusation of beating two former students of the varsity.

They were identified as— BCL’s Bijoy Ekattor Hall unit Assistant Secretary Ahmed Faisal and members-- Ashraful Islam, Anwarul Kabir and Tofail Ahmed.

The above-mentioned are followers of Fakir Russel group, a faction of the hall unit of BCL.  

DU Proctorial body sources said that one Shamim Sultana, a journalist at Channel 24 and Masum Billah, a journalist at Bdnews24.com, were chatting before the arts building, at around 9:30pm Tuesday (November 28).

The four BCL men came to the duo and asked their identities. 

At one stage, they started to beat Shamima and Masum, despite of the duo introduced themselves as former students of DU.

On information, the varsity authority handed over the four BCL men to Shahbagh Police Station.

However, DU BCL President Abid Al Hasan said that they will take proper action against the accused.
