DHAKA: Awami League’s secretary for publicity and publications Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the BDR mutiny in 2009 was carried out with the evil intention to oust the then newly formed government.

In reaction to a recent remark from BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, he said, “Neither the government nor Awami League; if anyone became benefited from that incident that is Khaleda Zia and her BNP.”

Hasan Mahmud was addressing a discussion organized by Bangladesh Swadhinota Parishad, at Jatiyo Press Club Wednesday (November 29).

In wake of the recently delivered verdict on BDR mutiny case, Fakhrul also commented that the incident should get further investigation.

“The accused who were directly involved with the BDR mutiny have been tried. Now, the plotters should be brought under trial”, added Hasan.

Dhaka Metropolitan (South) unit Awami League Secretary General Shahe Alam Murad and Bangladesh Swadhinota Parishad President Mohammad Ali Zinnah attended the discussion presided over by its Advisor Shafikur Bahar Mazumder.
