DHAKA: BNP will stage demonstration across the country on Sunday (December 03) protesting the arrest warrant issued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a press conference held at Naya Paltan central office on Thursday (November 30).

Rizvi said arrest warrant was issued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia by the direct instigation of the ruling government.

The BNP leader also said that Khaleda Zia could not go to court due to safety reasons as a strike was called by the left-wing party protesting the power price hike. 

Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia’s lawyers submitted an application through legal process, explaining that BNP Chairperson will attend the court session after hartal.

However, the court nullified the application and issued arrest warrant against her. The conduct implies that Khaleda Zia will not get justice from the court, he said.

BNP joint secretary general Habib-Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, BNP's publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, women's president Afroza Abbas and general secretary Sultana Ahmed were also present at the press conference.
