‘Broadcasting of Tarique’s statements stopped to conceal truth’

DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has alleged that the government stopped broadcasting the statements of Tarique Rahman to conceal the truth.

She raised the allegation while speaking at a function at her political office in city’s Gulshan on Saturday night (December 02). The function was arranged to uncover three books written on Tarique Rahman, son of the BNP chief and the party’s senior vice chairman.

The three books uncovered in the function are 'Tarique Rahman and Bangladesh' written by M Mahabubur Rahman, 'Tarique Rahman's Political Views and State Policy' written by M Saifur Rahman, and 'Diptiman Deshnayak', written by Saiful Islam.

Arranged by Democratic Policy Forum, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed delivered the welcome speech. Former Dhaka University vice-chancellor Prof Emajuddin Ahamed also spoke at the event, while BNP senior leaders Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Barrister Jamiruddin Sirker, Mirza Abbas and Goyeshwar Chandra Roy attended it, among others.

Khaleda Zia said that her son delivers truth in his speeches. The government can’t tolerate it. So it has stopped broadcasting his statements to conceal the truth, she added.

She alleged that some are running propaganda against Trarique Rahman. Some newspapers are also doing it.

Praising her son, the BNP chief said Tarique Rahman is working for the country. He is working to give something useful to the country, not to get anything. “Tarique Rahman has nothing to gain, but to give something to the people. Please pray for my son so that he can return to us, to the people after recovery from sickness,” she said.

Khaleda Zia said that Tarique Rahman has much affection for the country. He meets the leaders or activists who go to London, where he is undergoing treatment. He wants to know about the country from them, she said.

The BNP chief said that the people of Bangladesh always love Ziaur Rahman and his family. “I am grateful to the people for this,” she said.
