DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday (December 16) paid tributes to Ziaur Rahman, founder of the BNP and the late President, on the occasion of country’s 47th Victory Day.
The BNP chief paid tributes by placing wreaths at the grave of Ziaur Rahman at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in the city at noon.
She was flanked by her party senior leaders and leaders and workers of different front bodies of the party.
Among them, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party’s standing committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, vice chairmen Barrister Shahjahan Omar Biruttam and Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed.
Before placing wreaths at Zia’s grave, Khaleda Zia along with her party leaders and activists paid tributes to the martyred freedom fighters of 1971 by placing wreaths at the National Mausoleum in Savar in the morning.
She placed wreaths at the memorial around 11 am.
