DHAKA: At least 25 leaders and activists of the BNP were arrested from the High Court area in the city on Wednesday (December 20).
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Shahbagh Police Station Md. Mizan told Banglanews that the BNP men were being interrogated in the police station. Legal action will be taken later, he added.
The arrested BNP men came to the area to show their support to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on the way to the special court, the makeshift court set up on the premises of the Madrasa-e-Alia Dhaka at Bakshibazar in the city.
Khaleda Zia went there for appearing in the Zia Orphanage Trust Graft and the Zia Charitable Trust Graft cases.
Earlier on Tuesday (December 19), police detained 12 BNP men from the same area centering the appearance of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in the special court.
