Khaleda’s argument hearing in graft case adjourned BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in court

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday (Dec 20) adjourned till Thursday to hear the rest of the argument of BNP Chief Khaleda Zia’s in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case filed against her by ACC.

Earlier around 11:00am on Wednesday, Khaleda appeared before a special court in city’s Bakshibazar area when her lawyer Abdur Rezzak Khan started the hearing of her argument in the case. 

While placing her argument, lawyer Abdur Rezzak claimed that the charges framed against Khaleda Zia was not legitimate.

On Tuesday (Dec 19), the prosecution ended its argument in the case when ACC chief counsel Mosharraf Hossain Kajol demanded life term imprisonment for Khaleda Zia. 

On July 3 in 2008, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda, her son Tarique, and four others of misappropriating Tk 2.10 crore of foreign bank grants for orphans.
