DHAKA: The 19th session of the 10th Parliament, which will also be the winter session of 2018, will begin on January 07.

President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday (December 20) called the session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution.

The session will begin at 4:00 pm on that day with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

President Abdul Hamid will deliver his speech on the first day as this will be the first session of 2018. The speech was approved in the Cabinet meeting on December 07.

Parliament Secretariat sources said that the duration and proceedings of the winter session will be finalized at a meeting of the business advisory committee of the Parliament to be held before beginning of the session on January 07.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will also chair the meeting.
