THAKURGAON: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that though the election to Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) was held fairly but it didn’t bring any major change by which his party can put faith on the Election Commission (EC).

Fakhrul was talking to the reporters after a views-exchanging meeting at his residence in Kalibari of Thakurgaon Friday (December 22). 

Fakhrul alleged that the EC has been formed upon wrong structure. 

“We have proposed to form the EC comprising of the renowned figures upon whom everyone can put faith on. The EC is a constitutional body. Satisfying someone isn’t its job”, he said.

Fakhrul further added that there is no alternative of an impartial EC to confront the political crisis in the country.  

Local BNP leaders including central leader Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu and Abul Kalam Azad were among others, present there.
