KUSHTIA: Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif said judiciary is working independently and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will have to accept the verdict if proven guilty in court.
He came up with the assertion while inaugurating Zila Parishad auditorium in Kushtia Medical College area on Friday noon (Dec 29).
Hanif said, “Khaleda Zia has no scope to hide her wrongdoing or to confuse people. BNP leaders are spreading falsehood as they are sensing that Khaleda might be proven guilty in court.”
“We want Khaleda to be able to prove herself innocent and to get acquittal. We don’t want the nation to witness that a former Prime Minister is proven guilty of corruption for misappropriating money allocated to orphans. But people can sense that she won’t be able to prove it and so BNP men are trying to create confusion in response.”
The trial against Khaleda Zia in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is almost at the end. Hanif made the remarks in this reference.
Kushtia District Council Chairman Rabiul Islam, Chief Executive Officer Abul Baes Miah, Kushtia District Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, General Secretary Ajgar Ali and other party leaders-activists were also present at the time.
