BRAHMANBARIA: Law Minister Anisul Huq said the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha resigned because of the corruption allegations raised against him.
The minister made the remark while addressing as chief guest at a function in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Sunday noon (Dec 31).
He said, “When the five judges of the appellate division raised 11 corruption allegations including money laundering and corruption against Sk Sinha, he could not answer to it and resigned because of those allegations.”
“Now, BNP is claiming that we have forced Sinha to resign from CJ post. It’s a false claim as they can’t prove it. We are not responsible if the associate Judges refuse to sit with the chief justice.”
On the issue of the upcoming general election, law minister said, “BNP lost the trust of people and now they started to complain. However, the election will be held in 2018 under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
Law minister also inaugurated power connections in some parts of Brahmanbaria while attended the program.
