DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has asked the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling party, to hold its central council in March.  

He said this while speaking at a rally on the foot of Aparajeya Bangla on Dhaka University campus on Saturday (January 06). The BCL arranged the rally on the occasion of its founding anniversary.

BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag presided over the rally and its general secretary SM Jakir Hossain conducted the program. Current and former leaders of the organization attended the function.

Obaidul Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, asked the incumbent leaders of the BCL’s central committee to call a meeting of the committee immediately for preparation of the next council. Fix date and arrange the council in March, he asked the BCL leaders.     

Last week, a section of BCL leaders at a press conference at Dhaka University’s TSC cafeteria demanded immediate holding of council as the tenure of the present committee expired on July 26 last year.
