A bus carrying 70 Bangladeshi pilgrims plunged into a ditch in Odisha, India, today (April 6) leaving one dead and 15 others injured.
The fatality, identified as Nunibala Nath, occurred in the accident on National Highway No. 16 near Bhubaneswar.
The bus, en route to Puri, lost control and overturned.
However, the driver fled the scene immediately following the crash.
Local residents assisted authorities in rescuing the injured passengers, who were promptly taken to Capital Hospital.
Three critically injured individuals were transferred to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar for further treatment.
The bus was removed from the accident site, and arrangements were made to safely transport the remaining passengers to their intended destination.
