SATKHIRA: At least 51 people including 4 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir have been arrested in a special crackdown in the district.   

Police arrested them from different places in eight upazilas of the district in the drive conducted from Monday evening (April 10) to Tuesday morning (April 11).

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, Satkhira district police inspector (special branch) Mijanur Rahman said police arrested 15 from Satkhira sadar thana, 8 from Kolaroa, 7 from Tala, 3 from Kaliganj, 6 from Shyamnagar, 5 from Ashashuni, 1 from Debhata and 6 from Patkelghata.

The arrestees are accused in different cases including sabotage and drug peddling.
