KUSHTIA: An activist of the Awami League was killed and seven other people received bullet injuries during infighting between two groups of the ruling party in Kushtia on Sunday (June 18).
The incident of the infighting took place over establishing supremacy at Amla Bazar under Mirpur upazila in the district at about 3:00 pm.
The deceased was identified as Shaheen, 25, son of Shahar Ali of Amlabazar area.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur police station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to the Banglanews.
The clash erupted between the supporters of Mirpur upazila Awami League joint secretary Anwarul Islam Malitha and upazia chairman Kamrul Arefin, who is also a ruling party leader.
Shaheen and seven other people were injured in the clash. They were rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where Shaheen succumbed to injuries.
Shaheen is supporter of Anwarul Islam Malitha.
