CHITTAGONG: A case has been filed in court over the attack on BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s motorcade while he and other BNP leaders were on the way to distribute relief goods among landslide victims in Rangamati.
The case was filed at Chittagong Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Fast Judiciary Judge of obstructing law and order ASM Shahidullah Kaisar’s court. Judge accepted the case and kept it holding for hearing.
BNP leader and former public prosecutor (PP) of Chittagong court Enamul filed the case on Wednesday morning (June 21).
A total of twenty six people have been sued under section 4 and 5 of the Speedy Trial Act in connection with the attack. All of the accused were members of ruling Awami Leagues’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and youth wing Jubo League.
Earlier on Sunday (June 18), Fakhrul and other senior leaders were injured as some local miscreants allegedly attacked his motorcade at Isakhali in Rangunia upazila, Chittagong.
