HC stays trial of Moudud in 7 cases

DHAKA: The High Court on Wednesday (Oct 25) stayed the trial proceedings against BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed in seven cases filed during the anti-government movement in 2013.

An HC bench comprising Justice Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order after hearing separate petitions filed by Moudud for scrapping the cases against him.

The court also issued separate rules asking the government to explain why the cases against Moudud should not be scrapped.

Moudud Ahmed moved for the petitions in court.

The cases were filed with Ramna, Paltan and Shahjahanpur Police Stations in 2013 on charge of vandalism and arson attack.
