DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said there will be no more elections without Khaleda Zia and BNP.
He made the statement at a discussion titled, 'Current Political Crisis: Where is next National Election leading to,’ organized by Bangladesh Nationalist Friends Party, held at the National Press Club early on Friday (October 27).
The BNP leader said that, “Awami League will hold election and BNP participates in that election while Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman are in prison. That’s not going to happen. BNP is not that insane. Sheikh Hasina doesn’t have the power to hold election like 2014. No matter how many foreign friends they have, there will be no more elections without Khaleda-BNP.”
“The only crisis exits in this country, is the absence of democracy. Awami League means the crisis of democracy. Now your (people) concern is to decide whether to establish democracy or obey Awami League,” Gayeshwar added.
President of the organization Sharif Mostafa Zaman Litu presided over the meeting, BNP chairperson's adviser Habibur Rahman Habib, NAP Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan spoke in the discussion, among others.
