DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that the BNP must not despair, as the next general elections will be held in free and fair atmosphere.

Obaidul Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said this while exchanging greetings of the New Year with officials and staff at ministry on Monday (January 01).

The Awami League leader said that in politics, some people are depressed while some are in fear of outcome. Everything will be gone in this New Year. Elections will be held under Election Commission (EC). “We want a fair election. The government will perform routine work during election,” he said.

He added that New Year has new hopes, new challenges. The New Year is the year of election, so challenge is more. In politics, there are trails and tribulations. Hopefully, all darkness will be gone in this year. New light will come.
