DHAKA: The 19th session of the 10th Parliament, which is also the winter session of 2018, is going to begin on Sunday (January 07).

President Abdul Hamid will deliver his speech on the first day as this will be the first session of 2018. The speech was approved in the Cabinet meeting on December 07.

Earlier on December 20, the President Abdul Hamid called the session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution.

The session will begin at 4:00 pm with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. President Abdul Hamid is scheduled to begin his speech at 6:00 pm.

Parliament Secretariat sources said that the duration and proceedings of the winter session will be finalized at a meeting of the business advisory committee of the Parliament to be held before beginning of the session.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will also chair the meeting.
