SYLHET: Police arrested four activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, in connection with the killing of BCL activist Tanim Khan.
They were shown arrested on Monday afternoon (January 08) and sent to the jail through the court.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahporan Police Station Md Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter to the Banglanews. He said that they were arrested from Tilagarh area in Sylhet.
The arrestees are Joynal Abedin Diamond alias Fighter, Ruhel Ahmed, Jakir Ahmed and Syed Abid Ahmed. All four are the supporters of Awami League leader and councilor of Sylhet City Corporation Azadur Rahman Azad.
Earlier on Sunday night (January 07), BCL activist Tanim Khan was killed over factional clash at the Tilaghore area. He was stabbed by rivals of BCL.
Later, he was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Tanim Khan was supporter of Ranjit Sarker.
Meanwhile, no classes and examinations were held at MC College and Sylhet Government College on Monday (January 08) as a faction of BCL called an indefinite strike in protest against the killing of Tanim Khan.
On the other hand, Namaz-e-Janaza of Tanim Khan was held at his village at Osmaninagar upazila in Sylhet after Asr prayers. Later, he was buried at their family graveyard.
